Ceramic Glazing Table

Bisque bowls and cups wait on one side of the glazing table, their pale clay still matte and unglazed. Across the middle, open jars hold deep blue, green, cream and rust glaze, each with a wooden stir stick left inside. Test tiles are lined up below them in small glossy rectangles.

The table surface may be the busiest part of the picture. Dried drips, clay dust and old splashes overlap between the tools. Brushes stand in a speckled cup, sponges sit near the corners, and a cloth at the lower left carries blue stains from earlier work. Smooth bowls, sticky glaze and rough wood all catch the light differently, giving the puzzle plenty of texture changes.
