About the Vintage Brass Fan in a Parlor jigsaw puzzle
The electric desk fan dates to 1882, when the American engineer Schuyler Wheeler put two blades on a small electric motor. Brass blades like these four marked many of the better fans of the early 1900s, before cheaper steel and later plastic took over. This one stands on a scratched wooden table in an old parlor, its black base worn and its wire cage spaced wide. A green velvet wingback chair waits nearby in this vintage desk fan jigsaw puzzle.
