Harbor Sunset

Fishing boats rest against a stone quay as the sun drops toward the far shore of the harbor. Gold light runs across the water between the boats, and ropes, nets and floats gather in the foreground. Masts and small cabin roofs interrupt the bright sky above its last band of orange.

Each fishing boat has a different bow, cabin or arrangement of deck gear. Their white hulls have crisp edges and dark trim, unlike the soft borders of the clouds. Gold reflections lengthen toward the foreground, breaking where ripples cross the harbor. On the quay, nets have a fine tangled texture beside larger floats and rough paving stones. The buildings across the water sit in a narrow band below the masts and evening sky.
