Harbor Sunset

Fishing boats rest against a stone quay as the sun drops behind a low harbor town. Gold light runs across the water between dark hulls, and ropes, nets and floats gather in the foreground. Masts and small cabin roofs interrupt the bright sky without hiding its last band of orange.

Each fishing boat has a different bow, cabin or arrangement of deck gear. Their pale panels are edged by dark hulls and ropes rather than the soft borders of clouds. Gold reflections lengthen toward the foreground, breaking where ripples cross the harbor. On the quay, nets have a fine tangled texture beside larger floats and rough paving stones. The buildings across the water sit in a narrow band below the masts and evening sky.
