Irish Setter in a Heather Moor

The setter's copper coat is the warmest thing on this purple moor. Pale grasses bend around its legs, and a rough stone track leads toward low blue hills. Long ears and feathered tail give the dog a loose outline that changes as the fur catches the wind.

Start with the darker nose, eyes and ear tips, then work outward through the shades of red. Heather flowers make a broad purple field, but their tiny marks run in different directions near the stones. Keep the pale grasses separate from the sky. Both are light, yet one breaks into thin blades while the other stays in wide, quiet pieces.
