Mushroom Logs in a Shaded Garden

Shiitake are named after the shii tree, a Japanese relative of the oak whose fallen logs they grow on in the wild. Take is the Japanese word for mushroom. Here a stack of hardwood logs in a shady garden bed has broken out in broad brown caps, with ferns around it and shade cloth overhead.
