Red Tractor at Harvest

Mud is still caught between the deep treads of the tractor's rear tire. Its red paint has worn through around the bonnet and wheel arches, and the two round headlights stand out beside the grey grille. The seat is empty. Behind it, hay bales are stacked against the barn.

Wooden crates hold orange, yellow and dark green squash near the open doorway. On the other side of the tractor, a gate looks out over rows of cut stubble. More bales lie across the field, with a church tower beyond the trees. The straight barn boards and curved tire marks give this picture two very different sorts of lines to piece together.
