Red Snowmobile outside a Timber Shed

Snowmobiles went from oddity to everyday machine in 1959, when Bombardier in Quebec started selling the small one-person Ski-Doo. It was meant for trappers, prospectors and missionaries who needed to get around the north in winter. The red machine in the snowmobile jigsaw puzzle waits on packed, dirty snow outside a weathered timber shed, its windshield scuffed and its rack ready for a load. It has clearly done plenty of real work.
