Rescue Dog at the Open Window

A scruffy rescue dog leans over a painted window ledge, looking towards the bright street beyond the glass. Herb pots crowd both sides of its paws, while a striped blanket hangs over the worn sill. Blue-green trim, warm fur and leafy reflections give the scene several strong color groups.

The dog's face makes a natural centre, followed by the white chest and dark ears. Build the window frame next, using chipped paint and hinges to keep the vertical pieces in order. Herb leaves are easier to separate by shape than by green shade. The blanket creates a softer striped band below the paws. Leave the street and glass reflections for the end, when the indoor frame has given them a clear boundary.
