Total Solar Eclipse over the Mountains

A narrow white corona surrounds the dark disk above the mountains, with a trace of amber light along the distant horizon. Two walkers stand on a rocky overlook to the right. Below them, a footpath winds through lichen-covered stones, low plants and dry copper-colored grass. The scene is imagined, not a record of a real eclipse.

Snow caught in the gullies makes branching pale lines across the blue-gray slopes. The walkers are small against those ridges, standing close together where the rocky ground meets the sky. A strip of warm light remains at the horizon, separate from the white ring around the eclipse. The foreground is still detailed enough to show tufts of grass and green lichen on the stones.
