White Calla Lily among Broad Green Leaves

The calla lily is neither a true lily nor a member of the genus Calla. It is Zantedeschia aethiopica, an arum from southern Africa. What looks like one big white petal is a spathe, a leaf wrapped around the yellow spike, called a spadix, that holds the tiny true flowers.
