Sunflowers in a Blue Ceramic Vase

Several tall sunflowers rise from a deep blue ceramic vase beside the window. The largest face forward with dark seed centres and dense yellow petals, while smaller blooms turn towards the glass. Broad leaves overlap the stems and cast clear shadows across the pale wooden table. A patterned bowl of lemons and a folded blue cloth add two useful blocks of colour.

The garden beyond the window is full of smaller shapes, including a stone wall, white flowers, purple spikes and a strip of green lawn. Start with the strong blue vase and the round sunflower centres. From there, follow the leaf veins and stems before sorting the window frames. Loose petals and the cut flower on the table make a quieter finish along the bottom edge.
