Blue Morpho on a Leaf

A brilliant blue morpho butterfly rests on a wet tropical leaf, with droplets and deep green foliage around it.

The blue wings are the natural centre, with their fine scales changing from bright turquoise to deep cobalt. Water droplets make tiny round highlights across the leaf and should be kept separate from the darker foliage. Once the butterfly is together, the broad rainforest greens become a quiet final section. At higher piece counts, blue morpho on a leaf gives you enough texture changes to keep the final section interesting.
