Border Collie Herding Sheep

Shepherds call it the eye. A good border collie moves sheep with a hard stare and a low, stalking walk instead of barking. The breed takes its name from the border country between England and Scotland. Here one works a small flock up a heather-dotted hillside in a border collie jigsaw puzzle with miles of open country. Shepherds steer them from far away with a set of whistles, each one meaning a different command.
