Butterflies on a Mud Puddle

Dozens of yellow and white butterflies gather at a sunny riverbank puddle with wet sand and grasses nearby.

The puddle's edge separates the pale butterflies from the wet sand and grasses. Wings overlap in places, so use the dark body lines and antennae to tell neighboring insects apart. Sunlit mud has several small reflections, giving the lower section more variety once the yellow and white groups are together. There is plenty to notice in butterflies on a mud puddle once the first obvious shapes have been joined and close textures come forward.
