Folk Embroidery Sampler

Red and blue birds share nine linen panels with tulips, curling stems and smaller blossoms. Narrow stitched borders divide the arrangement, and a branching plant rises from a patterned pot in the center. Colored threads stand above the coarse weave, casting tiny shadows between the stitches. The folk-inspired motifs repeat across the cloth without becoming identical from panel to panel.

Several panels use the same thread colors, so a red fragment is not necessarily part of a bird. Rounded petals, pointed beaks and cross-stitched borders have different outlines even where their colors match. The central pot is especially recognizable because its dense geometric pattern interrupts the looser stems above it. Across the rest of the cloth, the visible linen leaves small gaps between motifs, making the whole arrangement readable without losing the fine stitch detail.
