Painted Stripes on Clay Pots

Loose cobalt, coral and cream stripes wrap around three clay pots of different shapes. Brush marks remain visible inside the bands, and the matte pottery shows tiny changes where the surface was fired. Rims and shadows separate the pots on the pale work surface.

Stripes widen as they turn toward the front and narrow around the sides. That change is more useful than matching two bands by color. Pot rims give each object a firm oval edge, while the darker interiors show how the opening faces the light. Build each pot as its own small group before connecting their cast shadows below.
