Patchwork Quilt on a Clothesline

A handmade patchwork quilt hangs from a garden clothesline, clipped with wooden pegs and catching a little sun through the trees. Floral cotton, gingham, stripes and solid squares sit beside one another in soft uneven rows. Behind the fabric, a white fence, spring grass and small wildflowers give the scene a calm country edge.

Stitched seams are the main guide, but the folds keep the grid from feeling too mechanical. Dark blue patches, red florals and pale cream squares separate quickly, while tiny printed flowers ask for slower sorting. Clothespins mark the top edge, and the fence rails cut clean horizontal lines behind the quilt. Yellow daisies and purple blossoms help place the lower corners.
