Bottle Cap Mosaic in a Concrete Path

The crimped metal bottle cap was patented in 1892 by William Painter, an inventor in Baltimore. He called it the crown cork, after its shape and the thin disc of cork that sealed the bottle inside it. Here dozens of old painted caps have been pressed flush into a concrete garden path in long curving bands. Rust has crept in around the crimped edges of most of them in this bottle cap mosaic jigsaw puzzle.
