Ginger Cat on a Narrowboat Roof

A ginger cat has settled on the roof of a narrowboat, paws stretched out beside the brass fittings. Its striped fur catches the low sunlight, while thick black ropes loop around the chimney and flower pots. The boat paint shifts from deep green to red and cream along the lower edge.

Behind it, the canal carries reflections of moored boats, trees and a low stone bridge. A towpath runs along the right with garden walls, lanterns and pots of herbs. The cat is the obvious place to start, but the roof has plenty of smaller clues in its worn paint, rivets, ropes and metal shine. Water, brick and leaves then take over the rest of the scene.
