Gooseberries under a Netting Frame

Gooseberries are easy to miss until sunlight catches their translucent skins. Here they hang beneath lobed leaves inside a timber fruit cage, with a picking basket waiting on the mulch. Fine netting runs across the frame, faint in some places and clearly outlined where it crosses open shade.

Avoid treating every green fragment as foliage. Fruit pieces carry curved ribs and rounded highlights, quite different from the pointed edges of the leaves. Timber joints provide a few firm corners inside the picture. Once those are connected, the barely visible mesh becomes easier to follow across the spaces between the plants and their support posts.
