Pink Bleeding Hearts on an Arching Stem

Bleeding hearts flower early in spring. In warm summers the leaves often turn yellow and die back by July. Nothing is wrong with the plant. It rests underground and comes up again the next spring. Here a single arching stem hangs with a row of pink hearts, each with a white drop at its tip, over dark soil in a shady bed. The flowers shrink to tight buds toward the end of the stem in the bleeding heart jigsaw puzzle.
