Pronghorn Standing among Sagebrush

Nothing that hunts pronghorns today can come close to catching a healthy adult. Many biologists think their speed is left over from the ice age, when North America had its own cheetah-like cat to outrun. That predator has been gone for thousands of years, but the pronghorn never slowed down. A buck stands side on among low sagebrush in this pronghorn jigsaw puzzle, showing off the white bands across his throat and the forked black horns.
