Horses in the Snow

Frosted manes and dark eyes are the clearest details against the white paddock. Build each horse separately, then use the fence and hoof marks to settle their position on the ground. Snow has pale blue shadows that help divide it from the sky, especially around the lower corners. Once horses in the snow is taking shape, the less varied pieces around it become easier to judge by edge and tone.
