Quiet Puzzle Table

A partly assembled mountain jigsaw lies on a wooden table beside a cup of tea. Gaps interrupt the snowy peaks, pine trees and blue-green lake. Loose pieces spread beyond the puzzle's edges. Sunlight crosses the wood near the cup, and a knitted throw comes in at the lower right.

This is a puzzle of a puzzle, so the tricky part is telling the printed landscape apart from the loose pieces scattered around it. Start with the cup and the throw, which look nothing like the mountain picture. Then build the finished part of the landscape, using the peaks and the lake as guides. Leave the gaps and the loose pieces near its border for last; their shadows on the wood are the best clue.
