Rooftop Gardens at Dusk

Herbs and small fruit trees grow in raised planters above the evening street. Brick parapets make a low border around the roof, while warm windows begin to glow in the buildings beyond. A few string lights cross the garden, each bulb making a small point against the violet sky.

The planters divide the foreground into useful rectangles, but their contents need closer sorting. Herb leaves are smaller and more varied than the broad tree shapes at the back. Window grids form repeated blocks in the distance. Use the bulbs late, once you know which dark sky pieces sit around each short section of cable.
