Santorini Sunset

Blue-domed churches and white houses descend toward the Aegean as the sun reaches the horizon. Warm pink light brushes the walls, bells and curved roofs, while the sea holds a narrow golden reflection between the island silhouettes. Every level of the village offers a different balcony, window or stair.

Curved blue domes rise above stepped white buildings on the left. Sunset changes the walls from cream in direct light to peach and violet in shadow. Small windows and railings interrupt those broad surfaces. Across the water, dark island silhouettes provide a thin boundary beneath the sky. The sun's reflection follows a narrow path down the sea, broken into horizontal ripples, unlike the smoother glow surrounding the sun itself.
