Anemones in an Earthenware Jug

Red, violet, pink and white anemones rise from a speckled earthenware jug. Their dark centers make clear little targets among the petals, while the stems and feathery leaves overlap in a thick green tangle. One unopened bud bends over the top, and a few flowers lean out towards the window.

The jug sits on a rough wooden table with fallen petals, leaves, garden twine and old shears scattered around it. A rumpled linen cloth softens the background, where shelves and a chair fade into shadow. The large flowers give you useful starting groups, but their petals are similar enough to reward careful sorting. Ceramic flecks, wood grain and the thin stems add the finer work.
