Beagle at the Garden Gate

A beagle pauses on a stone path beside an open wooden gate. Pink roses climb the left post, and greenery closes around the path farther into the garden. The dog's tan ears hang beside a white muzzle, with a darker saddle across its back. Weathered slats and a diagonal gate brace stand behind the nearest flowers, bringing straight edges into the otherwise leafy scene.

Rose petals have soft, rounded borders; the wood beside them has splits, joints and sharper corners. That contrast separates two of the busiest areas on the left. Around the beagle, white paws meet the light path stones, so their outlines are more useful than color alone. The path narrows as it recedes, and leaves farther back become smaller and less distinct than the foliage beside the gate.
