Colorful Streets

Painted houses in violet, red, yellow and blue line a lively pedestrian street. Umbrellas hang overhead, cafe chairs sit along the walls, and flower pots add smaller bursts of color near the doors. The broad path through the middle keeps the dense palette from becoming chaotic.

Treat each facade as a separate block. A turquoise door belongs to a different set of wall shadows than a nearby blue building, and window frames make those boundaries clear. The suspended umbrellas can be joined by color and handle direction, then connected through the wires above the street. Chairs, planters and shop details provide useful landmarks at ground level. The pavement has faint geometric patterns and long perspective lines; save most of it until the bright buildings are secure, then use those lines to close the center.
