Colored Pencil Rainbow Spiral

Sharpened colored pencils form a tight rainbow spiral on a pale surface. Long red and pink shafts fan out to the left, yellow crosses the top, and blue follows the lower edge. Successively smaller rings draw the colors inward until the points crowd around a tiny center.

The exposed wood makes a pale fringe between each painted shaft and its colored tip. Loose shavings sit outside the arrangement, where the longer pencils reach toward the corners. Their irregular curls interrupt a pattern otherwise built from straight objects and carefully changing angles.
