Fig Toast on a Marble Board

Halved figs sit open on thick toast, their purple skins surrounding a pink center crowded with tiny seeds. Honey has caught along the crumb, and a small knife rests on the white marble board. A folded linen napkin and a few loose crumbs keep the overhead arrangement from feeling too neat.

The figs give you compact groups with repeated detail, but each cut face points a little differently. Toast edges carry dark crust and pale crumb in a clear band. Marble veins are longer and softer than the sharp seed patterns. Sort those lines by their direction before connecting the board's bright corners around the food.
