Flamingos on a Salt Lagoon

A flamingo feeds with its head upside down, sweeping its bent bill through the shallows to strain out tiny shrimp and algae. Pigments in that food are what turn its feathers pink. A line of them wades across a turquoise salt lagoon under bare red hills, a flamingo jigsaw puzzle with plenty of pink. Flamingos raised on food without those pigments slowly fade to a washed-out white.
