Flamingos on a Salt Lagoon

Seven flamingos stand clear of one another across turquoise shallows. Two bend their long necks toward the water, while the others hold their heads up or lift a foot. Ripples stretch the pink bodies into broken reflections beneath their legs. Beyond the birds, pale shoreline bands cross a dry plain below rust-colored hills.

Pink feathers vary from shell pale to coral, giving every bird its own small changes in color and shadow. Slender legs and wavering reflections form fine vertical clues across the lower half, with dark bills and bent knees helping to identify the feeding poses. Farther back, horizontal layers of water, salt and rock provide steady landmarks before the quieter stretches of sky come together.
