Birdhouse Morning

A wooden birdhouse hangs among flowering branches in clear morning light. Bluebirds perch at the entrance and on a nearby limb, their blue wings and rust-colored breasts standing out against fresh green leaves and soft pink blossoms. Weathered grain and small nail marks give the simple box plenty of texture.

The nearer bluebird perches below the round opening, its blue back and tail set against the pale wooden front. The second bird sits farther left on a branch. Their orange breasts echo one another among the green leaves. A layered roof projects over the box, casting a narrow shadow above the entrance, while pink blossoms partly overlap its lower corner.
