Robin on a Snowy Fence

A robin balances on the rounded post of a wooden fence, its orange breast bright against the snow. Fine feathers show across the folded wings and pale belly, while one dark eye and narrow beak give the head a sharp centre. Frosted red berries fill the branch at the left, their little clusters leading towards the bird.

Behind the fence, white fields roll towards a low line of trees and a small distant farmhouse. Snow gathers along every rail, with darker wood showing through where the sun has reached it. Build the robin and berry branch first. The fence boards then provide long horizontal lines, leaving the softly coloured sky and fields for the final stretch.
