About the Grand Central Main Hall jigsaw puzzle
The constellations on Grand Central's green ceiling are painted backward, with east and west swapped. The railroad's explanation was that it shows the sky as seen from outside, the way a god would look down on it. When the ceiling was cleaned in the 1990s, restorers left one small dark patch to show how much grime had built up, most of it tar from cigarette smoke. Sunlight slants through the tall arched windows of the main concourse as travelers cross the marble floor. It's a Grand Central jigsaw puzzle with a lot of gold light in it.
