Hallstatt Lakeside Village in Autumn

Hallstatt curves along the lake under steep grey mountains. The church spire stands near the middle of the village, with pale houses and dark roofs spreading out on either side. On the right, orange trees crowd around balconies, timber sheds and a stone edge above the water.

The lake is calm enough to carry long reflections of the village and the mountains behind it. A pair of wooden boats rests near the dock in the foreground, giving the lower corner warmer brown tones. Across the water, the far shore fades into morning light. This one has big areas to sort first, then plenty of small rooflines, windows and autumn branches.
