Handwoven Stripes on a Loom

A wooden loom fills the workshop, carrying a broad cloth of red, indigo, mustard and cream stripes. The threads are close enough to show their small irregularities, while the timber frame has darker marks around every joint. Bundles of yarn sit in a shallow bowl by the window, and a few loose strands trail across the bench.

The finished cloth gives you long, steady bands to sort first. After that, look at the changing weave, the narrow cream lines and the shadows beneath the crossbars. The yarn bundles repeat the same colors in rounder shapes. Wooden heddles and tools add short edges and warm brown details around the quieter pieces.
