About the Mud Brick Kasbah Towers above a Palm Grove jigsaw puzzle
In southern Morocco a kasbah was usually the fortified home of one powerful family, with tall towers for watching over the valley. A whole walled village is a ksar. Both were built from rammed earth and mud brick, which keep the rooms cool in summer but need fresh plaster after every rainy season. Left alone, a kasbah slowly melts back into the ground it came from. These ochre towers, carved with brick patterns near the top, rise above a grove of date palms and a dry stony riverbed. Bare mountains close off the horizon in this Moroccan kasbah jigsaw puzzle.
