Red Deer in a Fern Clearing

The red deer stands alert in a fern clearing, antlers branching above its russet coat. Bracken overlaps the legs, and mossy stones sit among the lower fronds. Tall woodland trunks rise behind it in layers of green and brown, leaving the animal clear against the darker shade.

Begin with the antlers, where each branch has a definite fork and taper. The face and pale throat make a second compact group before you work through the body. Ferns repeat their shape but change direction around the stones. Keep trunks separate by bark texture and distance, then use their vertical lines to finish the woodland behind the deer.
