Spotted Owl in a Mossy Forest

A spotted owl rests on a fern-covered branch in a misty old-growth forest filled with soft green light.

Start with the spotted face and the branch beneath it. Ferns and moss have many small greens, so group them by texture as well as shade. Mist softens the distant trees and removes some of their edges, making the foreground branch a useful guide before tackling the pale background. There is plenty to notice in spotted owl in a mossy forest once the first obvious shapes have been joined and close textures come forward.
