Swallows over a Village Roof

Swallows cross the bright sky above a village of old red-tiled roofs. The closest bird spreads its forked tail and pointed wings near the top, while smaller birds follow different flight paths around it. Terracotta chimney pots and uneven rows of tiles fill the lower left, giving the open sky a strong textured edge.

Pale houses sit among green gardens, climbing roses and tall cypress trees. A stone church steeple rises behind the roofs, with a small cross just below the cloud line. Begin with the large swallow and the nearest chimney, then follow the roof ridges across the frame. The smaller birds and soft cloud shapes are easier once the village boundary has been established.
