Capybara beside a Quiet Lagoon

A single capybara rests at the edge of a quiet lagoon, half surrounded by reeds and broad tropical leaves. Its reflection breaks softly in the still water, while the warm light picks out the coarse fur along its back and muzzle. Dark stems create a natural frame around the animal.

Begin with the rounded head, nose and ears, then follow the long back into the waterline. Sort reeds by their narrow vertical shapes and leaves by their veins. Save the reflection for last; its softer edges are easier to place once the real animal has a firm outline.
