About the Charcoal Study of a Harbor jigsaw puzzle
Two fishing boats and a few simple cranes emerge from the charcoal harbor. Rigging makes thin dark lines above broad smudges of water, while erased highlights leave the paper almost white in places. A low breakwater anchors the drawing along the back.
Charcoal is strongest where several strokes overlap, so those dark knots can mark the first sections. Smudged water has softer edges and a grain that runs wider than the boat lines. Rigging should be followed from mast to mast before it disappears into the pale paper. Keep erased highlights separate from ordinary blank areas until their surrounding marks give them a border.
