Chicago River and Bridges at Twilight

Twilight settles over the Chicago River with steel bridge trusses cutting across the middle of the scene. Glass towers, stone bridge houses and rounded balconies press in from both sides, leaving the river to pull the eye toward the center. Sightseeing boats and warm reflections give the lower half plenty of separate shapes.

Bridge towers make clean corner markers before the darker truss sections start to connect. Window grids on the glass buildings are busy, but their colors shift from cool blue to warm gold. Boats are useful anchors near the waterline, especially where white cabins meet black shadows. Reflection pieces can follow the orange and red streaks back toward the bridge lights.
