Colorful Holds on an Indoor Bouldering Wall

Most bouldering gyms in North America grade their routes on the V scale. The V comes from John Sherman, a climber nicknamed Vermin, who worked the system out at Hueco Tanks in Texas around 1990. This empty gym has gray walls covered in colorful holds, a steep overhang in the middle and thick blue mats on the floor. Chalk smudges around the holds mark the moves people use most in this bouldering jigsaw puzzle.
