Deer in an Autumn Clearing

Three red deer stand quietly in an autumn clearing, all turned toward the camera without crowding one another. A mature stag occupies the left with a high branching rack, while two does wait farther across the copper ferns. Slender birch trunks rise behind them through a scatter of yellow leaves, and warm sunlight reaches the leaf-strewn ground from the side.

White bark gives the woodland a firm vertical rhythm, especially where dark knots interrupt the paler trunks. The stag's antlers offer long clean curves against the shadowed trees, while the does can be told apart by their stance, ear angle and changing coat color. Fern fronds fill the remaining spaces with delicate repeated shapes, softened here and there by green grass and fallen birch leaves.
