Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge crosses blue water under a streaked summer sky, its red-orange towers and cables seen from a high coastal viewpoint. San Francisco sits faintly in the distance, while a rocky slope fills the near corner. The long roadway pulls the eye from the main tower toward the far side of the bay.

The near tower has much larger openings than the tower across the water. Between them, the main cables sag in long curves above a straight deck, with thin vertical suspender cables repeating at shorter intervals. Red-orange steel contrasts strongly with the bay, except where deep shadow darkens the frame. In the distance, buildings form a fine pale strip along the shore. Clouds have softer boundaries and wider gaps of blue than the closely spaced bridge cables.
