Lighthouse at Sunset

A white lighthouse rises above a rocky headland beside a cluster of cottages. Its lantern glows beneath the dark cap, while a narrow path approaches through rough coastal grass. Below the buildings, waves break into small patches of foam against layered rock. Sunset color gathers over the water on the right, leaving cooler clouds above the tower.

The lighthouse has a shaded side as well as a bright one, so its white walls contain several different grays. A dark lantern room caps the tower, beside the cottage's red roof. Below, the rocks angle toward the sea in rough layers. Foam collects along their edges in small white patches, unlike the tower's smooth surface. Warm light catches the clouds underneath, leaving their upper edges cooler and darker.
