Gouache Boats in a Reed Marsh

Two small boats rest among tall reeds in a quiet marsh, painted in muted teal, ochre and smoke gray. Broken reflections sit beneath the hulls, and the reed stems rise in loose clusters toward a low tree line. Gouache edges stay visible in the water and along the paper grain.

Use the boat rims and dark interiors as compact anchors. Sort reeds by their lean and spacing rather than by hue, then connect them to the reflected strokes below. The broad sky and water can wait until the painted edges around the boats have established the scene.
