Irises beside a Rain Barrel

Purple irises lean beside the rain barrel, their sword-like leaves rising in narrow fans. Wood grain circles the barrel, while damp earth and tiny white ground flowers fill the base. A low stone wall behind the bed catches soft morning light along its uneven top.

The iris petals have darker veins that point toward their centres, making each bloom easier to distinguish. Leaves are straighter and more reflective. Barrel staves curve in one direction, with hoops crossing them in clean bands. Build the wall and barrel first, then use the leaves to connect the tall flowers to the darker soil below.
